Global Service Corps is now offering volunteer vacations in Thailand in partnership with Greenway Thailand. The GSC volunteer vacations are designed for those who wish to have a cross-cultural learning experience and also do some volunteering during their vacation in Asia. This volunteer experience can be a stand-alone vacation experience centered primarily around volunteering or you can make your volunteer vacation an add-on segment to a more traditional Asian vacation.  

GSC volunteer vacations in Thailand are offered year round with start dates every other Saturday. See Dates and Rates for start dates and program fees.  Participants will be situated in Singburi and Lopburi provinces.

GSC volunteer vacationers begin their international group volunteer experience with a two-day tour of Bangkok to get acclimated to the time change and climate, see some of the famous sites in the city, and get their first taste of authentic Thai cuisine. This is followed by a one-week cross-cultural orientation and learning experience which explores Thai history, culture religion, language and cuisine. Also included are visits to the famous Buddhist Temple Wat Phranon Jaksi, the old capital of Ayutthaya (including a side visit to an elephant village), Lopburi's museum and pagoda, and a cruise along the Chaopraya river. Following the initial orientation week, volunteers have the option of teaching English in a local school and/or working at an orphanage for one or more weeks. Both the schools and orphanages offer volunteers the opportunity to provide much appreciated services to poor and rural children and no special training is required.

For participants signed up for three weeks or longer, the volunteer vacation program also offers the option of a week for more-in depth study of Thai Buddhism and culture during the third week of the program. This includes an overnight stay and additional day visits to local wats (monastery temples).

GSC’s volunteer vacation experience is an affordable alternative to GSC’s Service-Learning Programs that provide more in-depth volunteer training and individual supervision and coaching.
