"I'm sure when I ponder my life experiences, during the twilight of my years, I will regard my six weeks in Thailand as six of the most sensational weeks of my life... I traveled to Thailand hoping for an enriching experience. What I found exceeded my wildest expectations."

Global Service Corps Announces New USDA Partnership and Volunteer Opportunities in Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security in Tanzania

Global Service Corps (GSC), founded in 1993, offers international volunteer programs and service learning experiences in Tanzania, Cambodia, and Thailand. GSC volunteer programs are offered year round from two weeks to six months in addition to one year Fellowship Programs. Volunteers enjoy a true cultural immersion experience by staying with a host family while working hand-in-hand with local partners. GSC volunteer programs are offered year round including HIV/AIDS Prevention & Education, Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security, International Health, Teach English Abroad, Orphanage Care and Buddhism Immersion. All programs begin with in-depth training sessions, and no special skills or knowledge are required. Volunteers of all ages, including students, families, mid-career professionals and active retirees, are encouraged to apply. Global Service Corps volunteers have an unforgettable experience while providing sustainable, beneficial results to the communities they serve.

Global Service Corps international volunteer program draws participants from 18 to 85 years of age. In recent years we have had participants from many of the United States as well as Canada, Europe, and Asia. Participants have a wide variety of backgrounds, education levels and skills. The common bond is a sense of adventure and a desire to make a meaningful contribution to communities in need. While many of our volunteers are college students, we welcome mid-careerists and active retirees as well. We also encourage families, couples and groups to participate together. Most programs required no specialized training.

GSC volunteering in Thailand, Cambodia, or Tanzania provides a mutually beneficial experience for both the participant and the local community in which they are working. Global Service Corps differentiates itself from other volunteer abroad programs by providing its volunteers with orientation and training, a network of supportive local counterparts and homestay accommodations allowing GSC volunteers to become more fully immersed in a new culture. All GSC service learning and community service projects are sustainable so that progress will continue when the volunteer returns home. GSC has developed sophisticated metrics to measure the benefits accruing to local communities.
