"I'm sure when I ponder my life experiences, during the twilight of my years, I will regard my six weeks in Thailand as six of the most sensational weeks of my life... I traveled to Thailand hoping for an enriching experience. What I found exceeded my wildest expectations."

Cambodia Teach English Abroad Program Continued
To help address the disparity between the crucial need to improve English literacy and the unique nature of existing and accessible resources to do so, GSC’s Teach English Abroad Program in Cambodia teams up with selected local schools and community development organizations to assist disadvantaged students. These organizations have made significant progress with local communities by establishing schools in rural areas and training centers in Phnom Penh slum communities to help the citizens of Cambodia who need it most.  GSC volunteers in the Teach English Abroad Program assist partners by teaching basic and conversational English as part of these programs.

Cambodian children face a world of both danger and opportunity, and GSC and its partners are committed to providing the comprehensive support to help aim them towards a successful future. GSC is reliant on motivated and compassionate volunteers to continue this work through multiple approaches. GSC’s EFL service-learning program gives Cambodia volunteers the opportunity to provide this critical English language training to disadvantaged students in and around the capital city of Phnom Penh.

No prior teaching experience or English as a Foreign Language certification is required. Prior to departure, GSC prepares all volunteer participants for their service by providing a specialized teaching English manual containing a number of resources including sample lesson plans, tips for the classroom, and time-tested activities. Additionally, volunteers receive teacher training orientation from both GSC and partner staff during orientation week in Phnom Penh. The teaching English manual will also prepare you with role-play materials, conversation practice outlines, and games and activities for use in the classroom.  All we ask for is a positive attitude and a willingness to approach challenges with patience and enthusiasm!
